Carl Zeiss Counts on the Asian Competence of Comgroup
After the merger of the optical business of Carl Zeiss and SOLA, the newly created company, Carl Zeiss Vision, faced the chal-lenge of implementing accounting practices based on SAP software at its two Chinese subsidiaries in Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
Comgroup Information Technologies (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. is managing the project on site. Comgroup ensured that the accounting processes based on the existing group template were implemented according to local Chinese law. Consultants from Comgroup also trained and advised users on site during the first monthly close.
The project went live in February 2007. An additional Chinese subsidiary will be added during the third quarter of this year. The project demands cross-cultural competence and a great deal of coordination between the Chinese locations and the project team members in Europe – especially for change management. The task is to align all the processes, philosophies, and requirements of the Chinese subsidiaries. The implementation is a pilot project for Carl Zeiss Vision; it is currently examining including additional Chinese subsidiaries in its companywide SAP landscape.
