SAP Virtualization Week 2009 is set to focus on the future of virtual IT environments. The event will take place April 20 to 22 at SAP’s Silicon Valley development location in Palo Alto, California.

“Currently, companies are only using about 20 percent of the server capacity in their IT landscapes,” explains Roland Wartenberg, virtualization expert at SAP Labs in Palo Alto and organizer of SAP Virtualization Week 2009. Wartenberg has made it his mission to reach 80-percent capacity utilization; SAP Virtualization Week is one of the elements meant to help achieve that mission.

The goal of this SAP event is to bring together all of the major virtualization providers. Those invited include Cisco, Citrix, EMC, F5, HP, IBM, Intel, NetApp, Sun, and VMware. Close collaboration among the attendees will enable customers, partners, and SAP itself to profit from the latest products in the field of virtualization.
Zia Yusuf, executive vice president SAP Global Ecosystem & Partner Group, is set to open SAP Virtualization Week 2009 on April 20. In his keynote, SAP executive vice president and chief sustainability officer Peter Graf will then present a number of reasons why green IT is not enough and the key to success lies in virtualized data centers.
