In December 2006, SAP released an extension to the transportation functionality in SAP Supply Chain Management 5.0 (SAP SCM). The additional capabilities further enhance the real-time transportation process optimization capabilities of transportation planning and vehicle scheduling within SAP SCM. Planning and execution functionality have also been enriched to manage ocean shipping operations, as well as cross-industry improvements such as multi-compartment equipment planning, and the ability to separate the tractor and trailer(s) as separate business objects.
