The Fraunhof Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology (FIRST, in its German acronym), has worked with Charité and University Medicine, a Berlin-based research group, to develop an interface between the human brain and a computer – the brain-computer interface (BCI). The BCI measures electrical brain signals with an EEG and uses an attached computer to convert them into computer control signals. Test subjects have already been able to move a cursor just by thinking about it.
