Unilever Increases Sales by 7.4 Percent

Harmonized SAP system drives sales increase: Sales at consumer goods group Unilever have risen by 7.4 percent to U.S.$23.7 billion, during the first nine months of 2008.

“This is because of our IT system conversion,” says Unilever Chairman Patrick Cescau when the latest quarterly figures were announced. As part of the “One Unilever” program, the group is currently implementing a harmonized IT system in Europe based on SAP. 80 percent of all locations are already using the new system.

Furthermore, Unilever has also implemented its SAP strategy in Asia and has centralized its supply chain in Singapore.

The “One Unilever” program started in 2006 and is due to be completed by January 2009. The benefits of the SAP implementation for Unilever so far include:

Unilever is implementing the project in all key countries to ensure that all locations can use common services in the areas of IT, human resources management and finance.
